No sub sandwich is complete without a sauce to top it off, adding a final touch of unique flavor to make your sub sandwich perfect. Adding a sauce, or more than one sauce if you are especially bold, can add some moisture to your sub sandwich which can balance out the combination of bread, meat, cheese, and vegetables which have been expertly assembled, bringing balance to your sandwich.
Subway offers a variety of sauces, some of which have been around for decades and others which have only been around for several months. If you have been a long-time Subway fan, you may have noticed there are a few sauces which have gone missing over the past year or so. Depending on your sub sandwich sauce preferences, you may not have noticed the changes within the sauce section because you never touch it, or you may have had to completely change up your favorite order to accommodate a missing sauce.
So which sauces has Subway removed from its menu? The banished Subway sauces include:
-
Ranch Dressing
-
Subway Vinaigrette
-
Sweet Chipotle
-
Deli Mustard
-
Caesar Dressing
-
Creamy Italian Dressing
-
Thousand Island Dressing
Many are upset with Subway’s decision to remove Ranch Dressing and Thousand Island Dressing from its menu and have even started online petitions to bring these sauces back. Many now say they do not know what sauce to put on certain sub sandwiches, as Ranch Dressing had apparently been a staple ingredient in quite a few people’s sub sandwiches. A number of people have also spoken out about how there are almost no acceptable sauces for a salad anymore, removing the option of a huge burst of flavor from the salad bowls from a favorite sauce, such as Ranch, Vinaigrette, Caesar Dressing, Creamy Italian Dressing, and Thousand Island Dressing.
While Subway has discontinued several sauces, it has also kept several of its original sauces while adding a few new ones to its menu.
So which sauces exactly made the cut for Subway’s new, slimmed-down menu? These are the sauces currently available as the new list of standard sauces for all Subway locations:
-
Oil
-
Red Wine Vinegar
-
Mayonnaise
-
Mustard
-
Honey Mustard
-
Buffalo Sauce
-
Sweet Onion Teriyaki
-
Peppercorn Ranch
-
Baja Chipotle
-
MVP Parmesan Vinaigrette
-
Roasted Garlic Aioli
These 11 sauces are now the new standard for Subway. While Subway has removed several sauces, it has done its best to introduce a few new sauces specifically to try and replace old favorites. For example, the Red Wine Vinaigrette has been replaced with the MVP Parmesan Vinaigrette and the Sweet Chipotle sauce has been replaced with the Baja Chipotle sauce. Some of these changes have been more successful than others, such as the acceptance of the Baja Chipotle sauce in comparison to the acceptance of the removal of the regular Ranch Dressing, which many have informed Subway they want back on the menu.
No matter how you feel about the new options, there is surely a Subway sauce to compliment your sub sandwich with a burst of flavor.
